Opened in October 2002 on the campus of Old Dominion University at 4320 Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk, Virginia, Chartway Arena seats over 8,400 for basketball and approximately 9,000 to 10,000 when floor seating is added for concerts and commencements. Pollstar Magazine voted it the number-one venue on a college campus and number seven worldwide for seating capacities under 10,000. The arena is home to the ODU Monarchs men's and women's basketball teams, which have led their conference in attendance in three of the past four seasons. Facilities include 62 courtside seats, 16 luxury suites with 12 seats each, 836 club and priority seats, a 9,100-square-foot Big Blue Room for meetings and receptions, and a 5,000-square-foot west lobby. Concert configurations range from 2,755 in a theatre setup to 8,828 for a 360-degree in-the-round stage. The arena is owned by ODU and managed by Oak View Group.
