Home to the New York Mets since 2009, Citi Field is a 41,922-seat baseball stadium in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York City. The ballpark was built as a replacement for the adjacent Shea Stadium, which had served the Mets since 1964 and was demolished shortly after Citi Field's opening. The exterior facade was designed to evoke Ebbets Field, the legendary Brooklyn Dodgers home, a tribute championed by then-owner Fred Wilpon, a Brooklyn native. For concerts, the stadium accommodates approximately 45,000 including standing room. It has become one of New York City's primary outdoor stadium concert destinations, with a summer-focused calendar attracting major touring acts. The record attendance of 45,186 was set during the 2013 All-Star Game. Accessible by the 7 subway line (Mets-Willets Point station) and the Long Island Rail Road, the stadium sits within a short walk of Flushing's dining scene and the annual US Open tennis tournament at the adjacent USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The stadium features green seats -- an homage to the Polo Grounds, the original home of both the baseball Giants and the Mets -- along with tributes to Jackie Robinson, a Hall of Fame museum, a live DJ during games, and the Queens Crew dance team introduced in 2024. NYCFC is building a soccer-specific stadium across Seaver Way, scheduled for 2027, which will further develop the Willets Point entertainment district.
