Donated to the City of Kitchener in 2021 by the Manfred and Penny Conrad Family Foundation, the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts is a 24,000-square-foot cultural facility at 36 King Street West in the heart of downtown. The Warnock MacMillan Theatre, the main performance space, is a flexible black box venue with professional-grade lighting, digital audio and video equipment, a sprung floor suitable for dance, and retractable tiered seating for up to 351 in a seated configuration or 400 standing. Four dressing rooms, a green room, and office space support both small and large productions. The Blair Rehearsal Hall provides a secondary space with a sprung floor, a 35-foot mirrored wall, and capacity for 75 seated or 100 standing. Its footprint mirrors the main theatre, making it useful for rehearsals, dance or music classes, readings, receptions, lectures, and other intimate gatherings. The Centre hosts a wide range of programming from theatrical productions and dance performances to conferences, lectures, and community events. Its central location offers close proximity to transit lines, bike paths, and parking garages, making it highly accessible for artists, audiences, and event organisers across the Waterloo Region.
