Covenant Health Park

Baseball returned to downtown Knoxville on April 15, 2025, when the Smokies defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts in the first game at Covenant Health Park. The 114-million-dollar multi-use stadium, designed by Populous with GEM Associated Architects and built by Denark Construction and Barton Malow, sits at 500 East Jackson Avenue within the historic Magnolia Avenue Warehouse District, just east of the Old City. Fixed seating accommodates 6,355, expandable to roughly 7,500 for sporting events and up to 10,000 for concerts and festivals. The playing surface is natural Latitude 36 Bermuda grass, with baseball dimensions of 325 feet to left field, 400 to centre, and 335 to right. A 10-foot outfield fence in right-centre field prevents leaping outfielders from tumbling over the wall into First Creek, which runs behind the park. The stadium was named after Covenant Health, a not-for-profit health system serving the region. It is home to the Double-A Knoxville Smokies of the Southern League and One Knoxville SC, a Division III soccer team in USL League One, replacing Smokies Stadium and Regal Soccer Stadium respectively. In its inaugural baseball season, the Smokies drew 295,460 fans across 64 games, averaging about 4,617 per game. The venue earned the 2025 BaseballParks.com Ballpark of the Year award and was named among USA Today 10Best ballparks. Branded fan amenities include luxury boxes, picnic pavilions, and an outdoor restaurant and bar. The stadium is owned by the Knoxville Sports Authority and operated by Boyd Sports. A surrounding mixed-use development adds restaurant, retail, residential, and public plaza space to the district. Ticket information is available at grandslamknox.com. The convertible field switches between a baseball diamond for the Double-A Smokies and a 110-by-70-yard soccer pitch for One Knoxville SC. Record attendance stands at 6,735 for baseball and 7,500 for the 2025 USL League One Championship soccer match against Spokane Velocity on November 16, 2025.
