Progressive Field

Ranked as MLB's best ballpark in a 2008 Sports Illustrated fan opinion poll, Progressive Field opened on April 4, 1994, as Jacobs Field and quickly became the centrepiece of Cleveland's urban renaissance. The stadium, designed by HOK Sport and owned by the Cuyahoga County Gateway Economic Development Corporation, is part of the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex alongside Rocket Arena. Between 1995 and 2001, the then-Indians sold out 455 consecutive regular-season games, a record that stood for years. Current seating capacity is 34,820, significantly reduced from the original 42,865 through a series of renovations that replaced upper-deck seats with open concourses, social gathering areas, and standing-room spots. The Progressive Field Reimagined project, completed in 2026, introduced modernised social spaces, the Arcade Marketplace, and upgraded player facilities. The park features a Kentucky bluegrass surface, vertical light towers, and the distinctive left-field wall known as the Little Monster. Progressive Field has hosted three World Series (1995, 1997, 2016), two MLB All-Star Games (1997, 2019), and is the home of the Cleveland Guardians, renamed from the Indians in 2022. The stadium is located at 2401 Ontario Street, Cleveland, OH 44115. Designed by HOK Sport and constructed by the Gateway Economic Development Corporation at a cost of 175 million dollars, the park features 115 luxury suites and a Kentucky bluegrass surface. Jim Thome holds the record for the longest home run in the ballpark's history at 511 feet in 1999. The park is served by RTA rapid transit and is within walking distance of Rocket Arena and the broader Gateway District entertainment complex. Concessions include regional favourites and craft beer, and the Arcade Marketplace provides a modern social gathering area. The Guardians' box office number is 216-420-4487.
