Target Field

After nearly three decades of playing indoors at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the Minnesota Twins returned to outdoor baseball on April 12, 2010, with the opening of Target Field at 1 Twins Way in downtown Minneapolis. The 555-million-dollar open-air ballpark, designed by Populous and built by Mortenson/Thor, seats 38,544 for baseball across a two-deck grandstand that prioritises intimacy and skyline views over raw capacity. Target Field includes 54 private suites, 12 group party suites, and 7,000 club-level seats. The playing surface is natural Kentucky bluegrass. Field dimensions measure 339 feet down the left-field line, 404 feet to centre, and 328 to right. The ballpark is served by the Target Field light-rail station on the Blue and Green Lines, making it one of the most transit-accessible stadiums in Major League Baseball. In addition to Twins baseball, Target Field has hosted outdoor NHL and college hockey games, NCAA football, concerts by Kenny Chesney, P!nk, and other headliners, and the 2014 MLB All-Star Game. Record attendance exceeded 45,000 for a 2023 P!nk concert. The park is located in the Warehouse District of downtown Minneapolis. The ballpark's design incorporates a limestone-clad exterior that references the milling heritage of the surrounding Warehouse District. A massive cantilevered canopy covers the majority of upper-deck seating, providing shade and rain protection without enclosing the park. The Minnie and Paul sign, a nod to the club's mascots representing the Twin Cities, animates with a handshake after every Twins home run. Parking is available in nearby downtown ramps, and the park's direct light-rail connection makes it one of the easiest MLB stadiums to reach without a car. The Twins box office phone number is 612-338-9467. The ballpark is owned by the Minnesota Ballpark Authority and operated by Twins Ballpark LLC.
