Home of the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders -- one of the oldest professional gridiron football teams in existence, founded in 1910 -- Mosaic Stadium is a 33,350-seat open-air facility at the REAL District in Regina, Saskatchewan that opened for its first event on October 1, 2016. Designed by HKS Inc. in joint venture with B+H Architects and built by PCL Construction at a cost of $278.2 million, the stadium replaced the beloved Taylor Field, which had served the Roughriders from 1936 to 2016. Preliminary excavation began in April 2014, removing more than 300,000 cubic metres of soil to create a sunken lower bowl where over 65 percent of the facility's seats sit below ground level. The stadium's FieldTurf Revolution 360 surface made it the first CFL stadium to feature that iteration of synthetic turf. The facility was declared substantially complete on August 31, 2016, with the Roughriders hosting their first pre-season game on June 10, 2017 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Seating capacity is expandable to 40,000 for major events such as the Grey Cup. The stadium includes 38 executive suites, 1,727 business seats, and a south-side video screen. The record football attendance stands at 34,243, set in August 2025 against Winnipeg. Country star Garth Brooks drew an estimated 39,500 during his 2019 Stadium Tour, the largest single-event crowd in the building's history. The Roughriders have won five Grey Cup championships (1966, 1989, 2007, 2013, 2025) and are consistently among the CFL's top merchandise sellers, ranking third behind the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs among all Canadian sports teams. Mosaic Stadium is part of the REAL District, the largest interconnected event complex in Canada, alongside exhibition grounds, a casino, and other facilities. The stadium is operated by the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd. and owned by the City of Regina.
