SaskTel Centre

SaskTel Centre is the premier sports and entertainment arena in Saskatchewan, located at 3515 Thatcher Avenue in Saskatoon. Opened on February 9, 1988, as Saskatchewan Place, the facility was renamed Credit Union Centre in 2004 before acquiring its current name under a ten-year naming rights agreement with SaskTel beginning October 1, 2014. The arena is home to the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League, the Saskatchewan Rush of the National Lacrosse League (2016 league champions), and the Saskatoon Mamba of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. The arena seats 15,100 for hockey and sporting events, with a maximum capacity of 15,195 for lacrosse and up to 16,500 for concerts in the round. Smaller configurations include 12,100 for end-stage concerts at 180 degrees and 3,000 for theatre mode. The facility features 51 executive suites and can be converted into a 60,000-square-foot trade show space on the arena level with an additional 24,000 square feet on the concourse level when seating areas are removed. Originally built at a cost of 24.8 million Canadian dollars, the arena was expanded in 2008-09 with a 6.7-million-dollar renovation that added 2,981 seats in preparation for the 2010 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. SaskTel Centre holds the distinction of being the only arena in Canada to have hosted the IIHF World Juniors, the CHL Memorial Cup, four Tim Hortons Briers, Canadian Figure Skating Championships, PBR Canadian Finals, and UFC events. The record attendance is 16,874, set during Metallica's WorldWired Tour on September 15, 2018. The arena consistently ranks among the busiest in the world by Pollstar, the concert industry's leading trade publication.
