The Clyde Theatre
click to manageThe Clyde Theatre is a 2,000-capacity live music and events venue at 1808 Bluffton Road in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Originally commissioned in 1949 by Helen Quimby in honour of her husband Clyde Quimby, who owned several theatres in the region, the building was designed by renowned Fort Wayne architect A.M. Strauss -- the same architect behind the Embassy Theatre, Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, and the Lincoln Bank Tower. The Clyde opened on April 19, 1951, as a 1,782-seat movie house before eventually falling into disuse. After standing vacant since the early 1990s, the theatre underwent a nine-million-dollar renovation led by Chuck and Lisa Surack, founders of Sweetwater Sound, and reopened in May 2018 as a state-of-the-art live performance venue. Sweetwater provided the technology specifications, and the Russ Berger Design Group handled acoustics. The 21,000-square-foot main performance hall accommodates up to 2,000 in standing-room format or 830 in theatre-style seating, with flexible configurations for concerts, comedy, private events, and community gatherings. The venue has quickly earned a reputation as one of the top concert venues in the region, featuring artists across every genre. Free parking is available in a six-acre lot along Bluffton Road.
