Westcott Theater

The Westcott Theater is a 700-capacity live music venue at 524 Westcott Street in the Westcott neighbourhood of Syracuse, New York. The building was originally constructed in 1919 as a cinema and operated under several names including the Harvard Theater and the Studio before becoming the Westcott Cinema in 1993 under Nat Tobin. After the cinema closed in October 2007, local entrepreneurs Sam Levey and Dan Mastronardi purchased the space, tore out the old seats and screen, installed a bar, and reopened it as a concert venue in September 2008. By 2013 The Post-Standard called it the most consistent midsize venue in Syracuse, with about 120 shows annually. A 2019 renovation installed a line-array front-of-house sound system, new lighting design capabilities, and new stage monitoring, followed by cosmetic ballroom upgrades in 2020 that made the space adaptable for private events and corporate receptions. The venue books a diverse range of genres including electronic, jam, hip-hop, rock, Latin, and tribute nights, drawing audiences from both the neighbourhood and the large Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF student population.
