A 165-metre observation wheel on the Marina Bay waterfront, the Singapore Flyer was the world's tallest Ferris wheel when it opened in 2008 until overtaken by the High Roller in Las Vegas in 2014. The wheel comprises 28 fully air-conditioned capsules, each accommodating up to 28 passengers, completing a full rotation in approximately 30 minutes and providing 360-degree views encompassing the Marina Bay skyline, the shipping lanes of the Singapore Strait, and on clear days the Indonesian Riau Islands and Malaysian Johor. The view from the apex captures the full sweep of Singapore's engineered landscape: Marina Bay Sands and its cantilevered SkyPark, the Gardens by the Bay Supertrees, the Central Business District towers, Sentosa Island, Changi Airport approach paths, and the container terminal at Tanjong Pagar -- one of the world's busiest ports. At night, the city's illumination transforms the experience into a slow-motion panorama of light. Premium experiences available include Singapore Sling cocktail flights, multi-course dinner capsules, and private champagne bookings for special occasions. The base terminal houses a food street, retail outlets, and ticketing facilities. The Flyer sits within the Marina Bay district, walkable from the Esplanade theatres, ArtScience Museum, and the Helix Bridge pedestrian crossing. The structure's engineering required adaptation to Singapore's tropical climate: the fully enclosed, climate-controlled capsules protect against the equatorial heat, humidity, and sudden thunderstorms that would make an open-air wheel impractical. The wheel operates from morning to late evening daily. Promenade MRT station on the Circle Line provides nearest access. Special flight packages include a Singapore Sling cocktail on the way up, sunset timing for optimal photography conditions, and a multi-course dining experience in a dedicated capsule with personal butler service. The Flyer offers corporate event hire of entire capsules or groups of capsules for launches, receptions, and teambuilding activities. Festival periods including National Day and New Year see special themed illumination of the wheel's exterior LED system.
