Europe's largest house of literature stands behind the Royal Palace park in Oslo. Litteraturhuset opened on 5 October 2007 at Wergelandsveien 29, in the 1932 building architect Henry Fearnley Coll designed for the Oslo Teachers' College - a heritage-protected house since 2013, bought outright in 2017 by the free-speech foundation Fritt Ord, which had conceived and financed the whole project.
