Cervantes' Masterpiece

The Harlem of the West still has a working stage, and it has been booked solid since 2003. Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom at 2637 Welton Street occupies the old Casino Cabaret in Denver's Five Points neighbourhood, a room whose history reaches back to the mid-1920s and whose golden age paralleled the Cotton Club: through the 1930s, 40s and 50s, when segregation made Five Points the thriving heart of Denver's African American community, the Casino was a West Coast jazz epicentre where Duke Ellin.....

Cervantes' Other Side

The second stage at Cervantes' is a headline room in its own right. Cervantes' Other Side at 2637 Welton Street is the companion hall to Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver's Five Points neighbourhood, the two rooms sharing the historic Casino Cabaret building whose jazz-age stage hosted Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman in the decades when Welton Street was the Harlem of the West, and later James Brown, B.B. King, Ray Charles and Ike and Tina Turner as the Casino's legend grew.....

Coors Field

One row of purple seats in the upper deck marks the exact point where baseball leaves sea level a mile behind. Coors Field at 2001 Blake Street, two blocks from Union Station in Denver's Lower Downtown, opened on 26 April 1995 with a game that told the building's whole story: the Rockies beat the Mets 11-9 on Dante Bichette's fourteenth-inning home run. The 300-million-dollar ballpark by HOK Sport was designed for 43,000 seats until the Rockies drew a record 4.5 million fans at Mile High Stadium.....

Globe Hall - Denver

The building has poured drinks since the early 1890s and never changed hands until 2015 - the music hall attached to it was a Croatian and Slovenian fraternal lodge built in 1903. Globe Hall, at 4483 Logan Street in Denver's Globeville neighbourhood, is a Texas-style barbecue joint, dive bar and 200-capacity music venue occupying what locals believe is the longest-surviving saloon in the district. The history is working-class Denver distilled: the bar served workers from the Globe Smelting and .....

Grizzly Rose - Denver

The dance floor is 5,000 square feet of hardwood, the building holds close to 2,000 people, and Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson and Toby Keith have all played it. The Grizzly Rose, at 5450 North Valley Highway alongside Interstate 25 just north of downtown Denver, has been Colorado's definitive country nightclub and dance hall since 1989. The 40,000-square-foot honky-tonk earned national validation early: the Country Music Association crowned it Club of the Year in 1995, and the roll call of acts w.....

Holiday Event Center

A century-old theatre on Magnolia Boulevard has lived as many lives as its neighbourhood: silent-movie house, church, playhouse and now an independent event centre and performance venue. The Holiday Event Center, at 10943 Camarillo Street by the Lankershim corner in North Hollywood, keeps one of the NoHo Arts District's oldest show buildings working. The bones date to the 1920s boom that built Lankershim's commercial strip: the auditorium served the mid-century as a neighbourhood cinema before .....

Larimer Lounge

The Killers, Arcade Fire and The Lumineers all played this 250-capacity room before the arenas called - which is exactly the business model. Larimer Lounge, at 2721 Larimer Street in Denver's River North Art District, has been the city's essential proving-ground venue since Scott Campbell opened it in December 2002, back when RiNo was still empty warehouses. The location was a bet that paid off slowly: for its first decade the Lounge was a destination venue in an industrial no-man's-land north .....

LVC Expo Hall at the National Western Center

The halls were built for prize bulls and pivot to bass drops without blinking. The Expo Hall of the Livestock Center (LVC) at the National Western Center, at 5004 National Western Drive in Denver, is more than 150,000 square feet of flexible, hardscaped event space on the campus of the century-old National Western Stock Show. The campus is a Denver institution reborn: the National Western Center is the city's billion-dollar redevelopment of the historic stockyards district along the South Platt.....

Marquis

Housed in a characterful building on Larimer Street, the intimate room has long served as a vital launchpad for emerging bands and a favoured stop for touring acts in punk, rock, metal, hip-hop and beyond, earning a devoted following among the city's younger music fans. The venue is a compact general-admission space holding several hundred pe.....

Mission Ballroom

A purpose-built concert venue in Denver's River North Art District, the Mission Ballroom opened in 2019 as a flagship addition to the city's live-music scene. Created by a major concert promoter and designed from the ground up around the audience experience, the venue introduced an innovative, flexible approach to capacity that quickly made it one of the most admired mid-to-large rooms in the country. The hall is notable for its movable stage and adaptable floor, allowing capacity to be configu.....
